Saint Paul, the Apostle
Saint Paul, the Apostle, was originally known as Saul of Tarsus and was a fervent persecutor of Christians before his conversion. On the road to Damascus, he experienced a profound encounter with Christ, after which he became one of Christianity’s greatest missionaries. He traveled extensively, founding Christian communities and writing many of the New Testament’s Epistles. Paul was martyred in Rome around the year 67.
