St Candida, Martyr on the via Portuense
St. Candida was an early Christian martyr who died around 250 AD in Rome. She was buried along the via Portuense, a road leading to the port of Ostia. Little is known about her life, but she is venerated for her steadfast faith and willingness to give her life for her beliefs. Candida is considered a patron saint of those who suffer from skin diseases and is invoked for protection against harm.
