Saint Bruno
St. Bruno of Calabria (c. 1030 - 1101 AD) was a Catholic priest and the founder of the Carthusian Order. Born in Cologne, Germany, he later moved to Reims, France, where he became a renowned professor of theology. Seeking a more contemplative life, he founded the Carthusian Order in 1084 near Grenoble, France. The order's strict adherence to solitude, silence, and prayer attracted many followers. St. Bruno was known for his piety, wisdom, and administrative skills in guiding the new order. He is venerated as the patron saint of Calabria, Italy, and is associated with the spiritual life and contemplation.
