Saint Mary Frances of the Five Wounds of Jesus
St. Mary Francis of the Five Wounds, Virgin, Franciscan, was born in Italy in the 17th century. She dedicated her life to prayer, penance, and service to the poor. Known for her deep devotion to the Passion of Christ and the Five Wounds, she received the stigmata, the miraculous wounds of Christ, on her own body. Venerated for her holiness and mystical experiences, she is the patron saint of those suffering from the effects of the stigmata. St. Mary Francis died in 1608 and was canonized in 1867.
