Saint Benignus of Dijon
Saint Benignus of Dijon was an early Christian martyr and missionary in Gaul, venerated as the patron saint of Dijon, France. Tradition holds that he spread Christianity in the region during the 2nd century. He suffered martyrdom during the persecutions under Emperor Aurelian. His tomb became an important site for Christian pilgrimages. He is especially honored in the Diocese of Dijon.
