St. Turibius of Mogrovejo, Bishop of Lima
St. Turibius of Mogrovejo (1538-1606) was a Spanish Catholic bishop who served as the Archbishop of Lima, Peru. Born in Spain, he studied law and became a respected judge before answering a call to the priesthood. Appointed Archbishop of Lima in 1578, he dedicated his episcopacy to evangelizing indigenous Peruvians, protecting their rights, and reforming the clergy. He is remembered for his compassion, humility, and commitment to social justice. St. Turibius is the patron saint of native rights, Latin American bishops, and Peru.
