Saint Vitalis of Milan
Saint Vitalis of Milan was a Christian martyr believed to have suffered and died during the persecutions under the Roman Empire in the 1st or early 2nd century. Tradition tells that he was the husband of Saint Valeria and the father of Saints Gervasius and Protasius. He is revered for his steadfast faith in the face of torture and death, refusing to renounce Christianity. His martyrdom inspired many early Christians in Milan and throughout Italy. Saint Vitalis's relics are venerated in the Basilica of San Vitale in Ravenna.
