St. Simeon, Bishop of Jerusalem and Martyr
St. Simeon was the second bishop of Jerusalem, serving from around 70 AD until his martyrdom around 107 AD. He was a relative of Jesus and is believed to have been one of the Seventy Disciples commissioned by Christ. Simeon steadfastly led the Church in Jerusalem through the persecution of Christians under Roman Emperor Trajan. He was eventually arrested, tortured, and crucified for his faith at the age of 120. Simeon is venerated for his courage, steadfast leadership, and ultimate sacrifice as a martyr. He is the patron saint of builders.
