St. John of Avila, Priest
St. John of Avila (1499-1569) was a Spanish priest, preacher, and spiritual writer. He was born in Almodóvar del Campo, Spain, and studied at the University of Salamanca. After his ordination, he dedicated his life to preaching the Gospel and guiding people in their spiritual lives. He was known for his compassion, wisdom, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life. St. John of Avila was a key figure in the Catholic Reformation and was declared a Doctor of the Church in 2012. He is the patron saint of Spain and of diocesan clergy.
