Saint Dominic, of la Calzada
Saint Dominic of la Calzada was a Spanish hermit and later a builder and benefactor for pilgrims. He lived in the 11th and 12th centuries in the region of La Rioja. He is remembered for constructing roads, bridges, and a hospice to assist travelers on the Camino de Santiago. His charitable efforts greatly improved safety and comfort for pilgrims crossing northern Spain.
