St. Germanus of Constantinople, Bishop

St. Germanus of Constantinople was a prominent Byzantine bishop and theologian who lived in the 7th-8th century. Born in Constantinople around 634 AD, he became Patriarch of Constantinople in 715 AD, a position he held until his resignation in 730 AD. As Patriarch, he was a staunch defender of the veneration of icons and fought against the Iconoclast movement.
