Saint Maria Domenica Mazzarello, cofounder of the Salesian Sisters
Saint Maria Domenica Mazzarello, cofounder of the Salesian Sisters, was born in Italy in 1837. She co-founded the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians with Saint John Bosco to educate and care for young girls. Through her humble leadership and deep spirituality, she was a maternal figure to many and inspired her sisters to trust in God. She died in 1881 and was canonized in 1951.
