Pope Celestine V
Pope Celestine V was born Pietro Angelerio in the 13th century and lived as a hermit before becoming pope in 1294. Renowned for his piety and humility, he reluctantly accepted the papacy at an advanced age. After only five months, he resigned from the papal office, an act almost unprecedented in Church history. He was later canonized for his holiness and devotion to God.
