Saint Norbert
St. Norbert (c. 1080-1134) was a Catholic bishop and the founder of the Premonstratensian Order. Born in Xanten, Germany, he underwent a dramatic conversion experience and became an influential preacher. He founded the Premonstratensian Order, also known as the Norbertines, which combined monastic and pastoral life. As Bishop of Magdeburg, he worked to reform the clergy and promote the Catholic faith. St. Norbert is venerated for his piety, his dedication to the poor, and his role in the renewal of religious life in the 12th century. He is the patron saint of the Premonstratensian Order and of the city of Magdeburg.
