Saint Robert, abbot of Newminster
Saint Robert, abbot of Newminster, was born in Gargrave, England, in the late 11th century. He became a Benedictine monk at Whitby before joining the Cistercian order at Fountains Abbey. In 1138, he founded Newminster Abbey and served as its first abbot, renowned for his piety, wisdom, and miracles.
