St. Anthony Mary Gianelli, Bishop of Bobbio, Founder of the Daughters of Mary

St. Anthony Mary Gianelli (1789-1846) was an Italian Catholic bishop and the founder of the Daughters of Mary. Born in Chiavari, he dedicated his life to serving the poor and promoting education. As Bishop of Bobbio, he worked tirelessly to reform the diocese and establish schools and charitable institutions. Gianelli founded the Daughters of Mary in 1834, a religious congregation focused on education and social work. He is venerated for his holiness, compassion, and commitment to the marginalized. St. Anthony Mary Gianelli is the patron saint of the Diocese of Bobbio and the Daughters of Mary.
