St. Bonaventure of Bagnoregio (1221-1274) was a Franciscan friar, Cardinal, Bishop of Alban, and Doctor of the Church. Born in Bagnoregio, Italy, he joined the Franciscans and became a renowned theologian and philosopher. He served as the Minister General of the Franciscan Order and played a key role in the development of Franciscan thought. Bonaventure was known for his mystical theology and his influential writings on the life of St. Francis of Assisi. He is venerated as the "Seraphic Doctor" for his profound spiritual insights. St. Bonaventure is the patron saint of France and of those who suffer from intestinal disorders.
