Saint Camillus de Lellis
St. Camillus de Lellis (1550-1614) was an Italian Catholic priest and the founder of the Order of the Ministers of the Sick. Born in Abruzzo, Italy, he had a troubled youth marked by gambling addiction and military service. After a miraculous healing, he devoted his life to caring for the sick and dying, establishing hospitals and clinics throughout Italy. Camillus is venerated as the patron saint of the sick, hospitals, nurses, and physicians.
