St. Eusebius, Roman, Founder of the homonymous church on the Esquilino
St. Eusebius was a Roman priest who lived in the 4th century AD. He is remembered for founding the Church of St. Eusebius on the Esquiline Hill in Rome, which still stands today. As a defender of the Nicene Creed, Eusebius was exiled by the Arian emperor Constantius II for his staunch opposition to Arianism. He is venerated for his unwavering commitment to Catholic orthodoxy and his willingness to suffer for the faith. St. Eusebius is the patron saint of those falsely accused.
