Saint Mary, Our Lady of Walsingham
Saint Mary, Our Lady of Walsingham, is venerated as the Blessed Virgin who appeared at Walsingham in England in the 11th century. Tradition holds that she instructed a noblewoman, Richeldis de Faverches, to build a replica of the Holy House of Nazareth. Her shrine became one of the most significant pilgrimage destinations in medieval England. Devotion to Our Lady of Walsingham remains strong, with annual pilgrimages and a revived shrine after the Reformation.
