Our Lady of Mercy
Our Lady of Mercy, also known as Our Lady of Ransom or La Merced, is a Marian title associated with the Virgin Mary as patroness of the Mercedarian Order, founded in Spain for the redemption of Christian captives. She is venerated in many countries, particularly Spain and Latin America. Her devotion focuses on acts of mercy and the spiritual and physical liberation of those in captivity or great distress. Numerous churches and charitable works across the world bear her name.
