Saint Jerome
St. Jerome (c.342-420 AD) was a priest and renowned scholar of the Catholic Church, known for his translation of the Bible into Latin, the Vulgate. Born in Stridon (modern-day Croatia/Slovenia), he led a life of asceticism and scholarship, traveling extensively and serving as a secretary to Pope Damasus I. Jerome is venerated for his tireless efforts in preserving and interpreting sacred texts, and for his influential writings on theology and biblical studies. He is considered a Doctor of the Church and the patron saint of librarians, translators, and students.
