Blessed Jacqueline, Franciscan tertiary of Assisi
Blessed Jacqueline of Assisi was a devoted lay follower of Saint Francis of Assisi and a prominent member of the Franciscan Third Order. Known as Jacopa dei Settesoli, she played a significant role in supporting the early Franciscan movement through her generosity and hospitality. She was present at the deathbed of Saint Francis, having brought special almond pastries as he requested. Today, she is honored for her charity and deep spiritual friendship with the saint.
