Saint Laura Montoya
Saint Laura Montoya (1874–1949) was a Colombian religious sister, educator, and missionary. She dedicated her life to serving indigenous peoples in Colombia, founding the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Immaculate and Saint Catherine of Siena. Laura Montoya was known for her compassion, courage, and advocacy for social justice. She was canonized by Pope Francis in 2013, becoming the first Colombian saint. Her legacy continues in the missions and educational work of her congregation.
