St. Charles de Foucauld
Charles de Foucauld (1858-1916) was a French Catholic religious and explorer who lived among the Tuareg people in the Sahara desert. Initially a hedonistic military officer, he underwent a religious conversion and became a hermit priest, dedicating his life to prayer and service to the poor. He is venerated for his humility, compassion, and devotion to Christ. Charles de Foucauld is the patron saint of the Sahara region and of those seeking spiritual conversion.
