St. Nahum, Prophet
St. Nahum was one of the twelve minor prophets of the Old Testament. He lived during the 7th century BCE and was from the town of Elkosh, which was likely located in Galilee. Nahum's prophecy focused on the impending destruction of the Assyrian Empire, particularly its capital city of Nineveh. His writings emphasize God's justice and power, as well as His mercy towards those who trust in Him. Nahum is venerated for his prophetic gifts and for his steadfast faith in the face of oppression. He is the patron saint of the town of Aloné in Lebanon.
