St. Eligius, Bishop of Noyon

St. Eligius (c. 588-660 CE) was a Frankish goldsmith, metalsmith, and bishop who lived in what is now France. He served as the Bishop of Noyon-Tournai and was known for his skilled craftsmanship, charitable works, and evangelization efforts. Eligius was a trusted advisor to the Merovingian king Dagobert I and used his influence to promote Christianity and help the poor. He is venerated as the patron saint of goldsmiths, blacksmiths, and other metal workers, as well as horses, livestock, and those suffering from rheumatism or faith-related temptations.
