Francis Xavier

St. Francis Xavier (1506-1552) was a Spanish Jesuit priest and missionary who is considered one of the greatest Roman Catholic missionaries since St. Paul. Born in Navarre, he co-founded the Jesuit order and traveled extensively, spending most of his life in India, Southeast Asia, and Japan, where he converted thousands to Christianity. Known as the "Apostle of the Indies," he is the patron saint of missionaries and one of the patron saints of Navarre.
