St. Sabas, Abbott
St. Sabas was a prominent 5th-6th century Christian saint and abbot. Born in Cappadocia (modern-day Turkey) around 439 AD, he became a monk at a young age and founded several monasteries in the Judean Desert. Sabas was known for his strict asceticism, his miracles, and his defense of orthodox Christianity against Monophysite heresy. He played a key role in the ecclesiastical disputes of his time and was highly influential in the Byzantine Empire.
