Saint Zoticus, priest and caretaker of orphans
Saint Zoticus was a priest who lived in Constantinople in the fourth century. He is remembered for his charitable work in founding institutions to care for orphans and the poor, and for establishing a hospice for those suffering from leprosy. His care for the sick and abandoned earned him the title 'feeder of orphans' among the faithful of his time. According to tradition, he suffered martyrdom under the Arian emperor Constantius II for his fidelity to the Christian faith. He is venerated in the Roman Martyrology as a model of charity toward the poor and afflicted.
