San Jose of Anchieta
San Jose of Anchieta (1534-1597) ay isang paring Heswita, misyonero, at linguist mula sa the Canary Islands. Siya played a crucial role in the ebanghelisasyon of Brazil at ang establishment of the colony. Anchieta learned the indigenous Tupi language at used it to translate Kristiyano texts, preach Ebanghelyo, at facilitate communication sa pagitan ng the Portuguese at ang native populations. Itinatag niya ilang cities at established schools at hospitals, earning him the title of "Apostle of Brazil." Anchieta ay sinasamba dahil sa kanyang tireless efforts to spread Catholicism, kanyang commitment to social katarungan, at ang kanyang work in preserving indigenous cultures.
