Basil the Great
Saints Basil the Great and Gregory Nazianzus were two prominent figures in the 4th-century Church. Basil (c. 330-379) was born in Cappadocia, Asia Minor and served as Bishop of Caesarea. He was a renowned theologian, monastic reformer, and is considered a Doctor of the Church. Gregory (c. 329-390) was born in Nazianzus, Cappadocia and became Bishop of Constantinople. He was a gifted orator, prolific writer, and also a Doctor of the Church. Together, they were influential in shaping Christian theology and monasticism.
