St. Anterus, Pope

St. Anterus was the Pope of the Catholic Church from 235 to 236 AD. He was born in Petilia, Greece, and is believed to have been a Roman citizen. As Pope, he is remembered for his efforts to preserve the records of the martyrs, which were important for the Church's history. Anterus was martyred during the persecution of Christians under the Roman Emperor Maximinus Thrax. He is venerated as a saint for his devotion to the Church and his willingness to die for his faith. St. Anterus is the patron saint of record-keepers.
