St. Angela of Foligno was a Franciscan tertiary and mystic who lived in the 13th century. Born around 1248 in Foligno, Italy, she led a worldly life until her conversion at the age of 40. After the death of her husband and children, she devoted herself to prayer and serving the poor. She experienced profound mystical visions and revelations, which she recorded in her work "The Book of Visions and Instructions." Angela is venerated for her deep spirituality and is the patron saint of widows, the sick, and those who have lost children.
