Saint Lucian, martyr of Antioch

Saint Lucian, martyr of Antioch, was a renowned Christian presbyter and theologian of the early Church living in the third and early fourth centuries. He was known for his scholarship, especially his critical review and revision of the Septuagint and the New Testament texts. Lucian was imprisoned and subjected to severe torture for his faith during the persecution of Emperor Maximinus. He bore witness to Christ and was eventually executed in 312 AD in Nicomedia. His legacy influenced many later theologians, including Saint John Chrysostom.
