Saint Maximus, bishop of Pavia
Saint Maximus, bishop of Pavia, served the Church in northern Italy during the fourth century. He led his flock with wisdom and defended the faith amidst the Arian controversy of his time. According to tradition, he suffered persecution under emperors hostile to Christianity. His steadfastness and holy life made him beloved among his people, eventually leading to his veneration as a saint.
