Saint Marcellus
St. Marcellus I was the Pope of the Catholic Church from 308 to 309 AD. He was born in Rome and is venerated as a martyr for the faith. During his brief pontificate, he had to deal with the aftermath of the Diocletianic Persecution, which had decimated the Church. Marcellus is known for his efforts to restore discipline and reconcile those who had lapsed during the persecutions. He died in exile due to the persecution and is considered a martyr. St. Marcellus I is the patron saint of dying people and is invoked for strength in times of adversity.
