Blaise

Blaise

St. Blaise was a bishop and martyr who lived in the 4th century in Sebaste, Armenia (modern-day Turkey). He was known for his compassion and skill as a physician, and was said to have miraculously healed a young boy who was choking on a fishbone. Arrested for his Christian faith, he was tortured and ultimately beheaded around the year 316 AD. St. Blaise is venerated as the patron saint of throat ailments and is invoked for protection against wild animals and against choking.
