Saint Apollonia

Saint Apollonia

St. Apollonia was a Christian virgin and martyr who lived in Alexandria, Egypt during the 3rd century. She suffered and died for her faith during a local pagan uprising against Christians. According to tradition, her teeth were forcibly extracted and she was threatened with being burned alive if she did not renounce her Christian beliefs, which she refused to do. Apollonia is venerated as the patron saint of dentists and those suffering from toothache.
