Sts. Saturninus and Companions, martyrs of Abitina in Africa
Sts. Saturninus and Companions were early Christian martyrs who were executed in Abitina, Africa, during the Diocletianic Persecution in 304 AD. Saturninus was the leader of a group of 49 Christians who were arrested for holding an illegal Sunday Mass. They refused to renounce their faith and were brutally tortured before being put to death. Saturninus and his companions are venerated for their courage and steadfast devotion to Christ in the face of persecution. They are patron saints of North Africa and are invoked by those suffering from religious intolerance.
