St. Gregory of Narek
St. Gregory of Narek was a 10th-century Armenian monk, poet, and theologian. Born in 945 AD in the town of Narek, Armenia, he was revered for his deep spirituality and literary works. Gregory composed the famous Book of Lamentations, a profound collection of prayers and meditations that is considered a masterpiece of Armenian Christian literature. He is recognized as a Doctor of the Church for his outstanding contributions to theology and his influence on Armenian Christian thought. Gregory of Narek is the patron saint of Armenia and is venerated for his intercession in times of illness and spiritual distress.
