St. Matilde, Queen
St. Matilde, Queen, lived from c. 895 to 968 AD. She was the wife of Henry the Fowler, the King of Germany, and the mother of Otto the Great, the first Holy Roman Emperor. Matilde was renowned for her piety, charitable works, and dedication to the Church. She founded several monasteries and churches, including the Monastery of Quedlinburg, which became an important center of religious and cultural life. Matilde is venerated as a saint for her exemplary Christian life and her devotion to the poor and the sick. She is the patron saint of queens, widows, and the Duchy of Saxony.
