St. Cyril, Bishop of Jerusalem and Doctor of the Church
St. Cyril of Jerusalem was a prominent theologian and Bishop of Jerusalem in the 4th century. Born around 313 AD, he played a key role in defending orthodox Christian teachings during the Arian heresy. As Bishop, he emphasized the importance of Christian catechesis and his Catechetical Lectures are considered a masterpiece of early Christian literature. Cyril was exiled multiple times due to political conflicts, but remained steadfast in his faith. He is venerated as a Doctor of the Church for his extensive writings on theology and his role in shaping early Christian doctrine.
