Herbert of Derwentwater
Saint Herbert of Derwentwater was a 7th-century hermit and friend of Saint Cuthbert. He lived on an island in Lake Derwentwater in Cumbria, England, where he dedicated his life to prayer and solitude. Herbert and Cuthbert shared a close spiritual friendship, and tradition holds they prayed to die together. Herbert's devotion and holy life made him venerated as a local saint after his death. His memory is especially honored in the region of the English Lake District.
