St. Magdalene of Canossa, Virgin, foundress of the Sons and Daughters of Charity
St. Magdalene of Canossa, Virgin, was born in 1774 in Verona, Italy, and died in 1835. She founded the religious institute of the Daughters of Charity, dedicated to the education and care of the poor and the sick. Magdalene was deeply influenced by her spiritual director, St. Gaspar del Bufalo, and she devoted her life to serving the most vulnerable members of society. She is venerated for her tireless work and her unwavering commitment to the less fortunate. St. Magdalene of Canossa is the patron saint of the Daughters of Charity.
