Saint Gisela, Queen of Hungary
Saint Gisela, Queen of Hungary, was born in Bavaria around the year 985. She was the wife of King Saint Stephen of Hungary and played a significant role in the Christianization of Hungary. After her husband's death, Gisela devoted her life to prayer and charitable works, eventually retiring to live as a Benedictine nun in Passau. She is venerated as a model of Christian queenly virtue and is honored on May 7.
