Saint Brendan, abbot of Clonfert
Saint Brendan, abbot of Clonfert, was an Irish monk and missionary of the 6th century. Renowned for his legendary voyage in search of the 'Isle of the Blessed,' he is known as Brendan the Navigator. He founded several monasteries, most notably at Clonfert, which became an important spiritual center. He is venerated as one of the Twelve Apostles of Ireland.
