Saint John, priest and martyr of Nepomuk
Saint John, priest and martyr of Nepomuk, was a Bohemian priest born around 1345. He served as vicar general of the Archdiocese of Prague. He became famous for refusing to violate the seal of confession regarding Queen Johanna of Bohemia. For this reason, King Wenceslaus IV ordered his torture and death by drowning in the Vltava River in 1393. He is the patron saint of confessors and bridge builders.
