Saint Dymphna, virgin and martyr of Geel
Saint Dymphna was an Irish princess from the 7th century, renowned for her piety and dedication to God. She fled to Geel in present-day Belgium to escape her father's advances after her mother's death. There, she was martyred for refusing to abandon her Christian faith and purity. Saint Dymphna is venerated as the patroness of those suffering from mental and nervous disorders.
