Eric of Sweden

Saint Eric of Sweden, also known as King Eric IX, was a 12th-century Swedish king and martyr. He is remembered for promoting Christianity in Sweden and for his just and pious reign. According to tradition, he codified laws and supported missions to neighboring countries. He was killed in 1160 and soon venerated as a saint. Eric is the patron saint of Sweden.
